I write to reflect. Nothing helps me think through an idea and reach a defensible position than composing an article on the matter.
I write to escape. Some find intellectual and emotional escape in outdoor activities, watching a movie, or reading a book; for me, writing provides that mental escape.
I write to endure. It is my dream that my kids and their kids read my writing and take it to heart well after I’m gone.
I write to connect. I love that writing, while published en masse, allows me to engender a very unique, intimate, and one-on-one connection between author and reader.
I write to impact. Ideas are endlessly infectious, and writing enables me to spread ideas that impact the world around me if only in a small way.
