20 years: 2004 to 2024
Our little family in 2004…

It’s hard for me to fathom that, 20 years ago, I was already an adult.

After all, I was in my thirties, I was married, I had a two-year-old son, I was working an adult job, and I had adult responsibilities.

Oh, and I even had a little hair back then. Boy does that feel like a lifetime ago.

20 years ago, we had a plan and we were executing it.

We had aspirations for our little family.
We had aspirations for our young son.
We had aspirations for ourselves.

We were proud of what we were building together.
It gave us purpose.
Each morning, we knew what we had to do.

Since then…
we learned thousands of things…not many of which we’d ever considered;
we worried about hundreds of things…nearly none of which ever materialized;
and we were surprised by tens of things…not one of which we ever foresaw.

Over the next 20 years…
we plan on learning more voraciously as we now appreciate how much more there is to know;
we plan on worrying much less as we now know we’ll always find a way to navigate through whatever we run into;
and we plan on appreciating the journey even more than the plan as we now know the unexpected can be even more gratifying than the planned.
