The Politics of Grace: A Plea for Kindness

Over the past few years—and especially in recent months—sociopolitical divisiveness has become nearly unbearable.

It’s no longer just disagreement; it’s grievance, cruelty, dogma, and tribalism.
It’s grown so sharp, it now slices through friendships, families, workplaces, and communities.

It’s in my feeds. It’s in my DMs. It’s in our conversations.
It’s exhausting. It’s corrosive. And it’s hurting us.

I believe we need a reset—a return to grace, empathy, and dialogue.
Not to avoid hard truths, but to make space for them.
Not to surrender principles, but to uphold them with civility.

This is my plea for kindness. It starts with each of us. It’s within our power.
And I’ll be the first to commit to it. Will you join me?

Sincerely,
Bassam Salem
